I love the Wii's quality variety. Not only does the Wii have a game in many genres, it has the best game in many genres;fighting, 3D platforming, 2D platforming, Puzzle, crazy racers(excitebots, not mariokart), and adventure. If you have a certain niche(concentrated puzzle games for me), there is a good chance the wii will have it, and it'll presumably be a lot of fun. When I considered what console to purchase, the dedication to variety struck me. If you desire to be a well rounded gamer, the wii is a safe choice. But I guess to be fair, it is a shooters market. Talent, Time, and Advertising has largely gone to FPS, TPS over-the-shoulder this gen. The Wii collectively has a decent list in these genre(about to get more soon).
I love backwards compatability. No having to get rid of the gamecube games & the controllers(which were pretty much made for smash bros).
The Wii is different than the other consoles.
Nintendo first party is back!!!! Not since SNES have the big 4 all been on a console(Bongos don't count!). That is about to change. All 4 of Nintendo's players are here this gen, each with great games. And eventually Miyamoto will unleash Pikmin 3. Excellent rebound from the collectivelly underwhelming Gamecube First Party.
Some Wii titles use motion beautifully. Boom Blox Bash Party, Red Steel2, Metroid Prime Trilogy(Original Metroid Prime with good controls FTW).
There are problems with the white box, but there are some sweet, sweet plusses.
