Well, in one area. I was reading a story about how New York and some other democratic strongholds were losing votes to Texas and Arizona.
It made me realize something and laugh that I hadn't thought of it before.
The government uses the US census to decide representation for the government and state funding and such.
However the US Census doesn't ask if the person is here legally.
Illegal aliens count like everbody else even though they're here illegally.
They do this because Illegal aliens use the roads and other services and also just for saftey reasons. I mean, one of the first things you do is mention that the US census isn't connecetd to any other US department just so the people talk to you and aren't paranoid you are going to report them to INS or something if they aren't here legally.
The end result though is, the house of representatives is decided by population, rather then population that can vote. It kidna reminds me of the old slavey 3/5ths compromise.
Really, all of our census stats I think count illegal aliens in our stats. I wonder if it's the same in europeon countries and other such countries.
