Hmm, it is an interesting concept but I'm not sure how it would work in execution. When companies remake games or movies or whatever, they can usually make a number of callbacks to the original, and take a back to the basics approach removing some of the complications that have been added in more recent releases. But I'm not sure what besides some gimmicky similar aesthetics could make a current system similar to the NES. In name only I'm not sure what good it would do or what the point would be.
At the same time I would definitely be interested in the strategy behind a decision to remake a console.
Also I have to think an NES remake would be more appropriate about getting back your former glory after a console like the Gamecube, not coming off a console even more successful than the NES (Wii).
