I think this would be a bad idea. Anybody remember what happened to Sega when they named Sonic 360/PS3 as Sonic The Hedgehog, everyone was pissed. If Nintendo failed to deliver an excellent system it would mire the NES's name. Not to mention the fact that Nintendo has come up with new names every generation unlike Sony. Its a large selling point for Nintendo.

Think for example if Nintendo remade the GameCube nobody would buy it because of the name even if the console rocked. If they remade the NES and it wasn't a legit remake of the NES some consumers would be pissed.

Besides sales wise the Nintendo logo will sell any console they market at a profit. Why use an old name?

Same reason they won't sell it as Wii2 or SuperWii, because consumers who own a Wii won't buy it and consumers who disliked Wii won't buy it. Same goes for NES
