What can 3D do for gaming besides make games look nicer and more immersive? (Something most console gamers don't care about unless it's PS3 vs 360 multiplates and brag on each other for being a "fanatic" of a console although some multiplats are actually so bad that it's legit to point it out)

That's a PC fanatic at his/her worst... I wrote it in hopes that you or anyone else would take it as a hint that it's a lame response and thought it was lol.

Well, after I get my 3DS come March, I'll be able to tell you if you are correct or not. My clear impression from what many developers said after they played around with the 3Ds is that the 3D will have actual gameplay implications, enhancing the game, but just a pretty face.

I've heard developers talk too... I really don't think they're talking about a huge leap in gaming... just slight improvements in gameplay as far as visuals go... like in MGS 3 Snake Eater... Ahh the camouflage  works better in 3D.

This isn't like when gaming went from 2D to "3D" (Duke Nukem II vs Duke Nukem 3D) as we now it today. I remember when that happened my jaw dropped and was super eager to try a game in 3D in those days... this isn't the same but w/e I suppose in the end there is a slight chance you could be right, very unlikely though.

I think perhaps with the 3DS gameplay could be enhanced with the 3D effect mixed with the camera they have. I'm just speculating here but the potential is there for innovative gameplay.
