Simply, no. Given the hardware and the architecture being placed inside that handheld it's a reasonable price. Perhaps the technology, like the PS3, is just a bit ahead of the times which places it out of the hands of the middle class consumer market. This might be feasable at a reasonable price in two years time, but right now the market is simply not ready for the tech and the price tag is proof positive.
