Also, there's some unnecessary details that rise the price such as the retractile metal stylus, Select button (who uses select nowadays?) and imo, the backlit.

Not sure. SD cards that size are likely very inexpensive due to volume, while internal memory would not have that price advantage.

I'm thinking about the possibility of the SD slot being locked just to read the bundled nintendo SD card.

Its very odd from Nintendo to bundle stuff like that. Look at the Wii for example.
