I remember looking at the confirmed exclusive lineup in 2006 and thinking that I have to get PS3 from launch just because of all the games even if I had a 360 and or wii but as we all know the uncertainty of the PS3 for Developers/Publishers in the first year and a half is what made most games multiplatform.
This Gen as really been about awsome games on all systems though so if you can you really need all systems this Gen like I hated the wii but now I have one for Metroid Other M, Xenoblade, The Last Story and many more hardcore Core Games on the wii and I will be getting a XBOX 360 for older games like Lost Odassey and Blue Dragon on some other games.
I agree that next year and beyond will be much better for SONY this Gen but I think that the way the current Console Scene is becoming unsustainable and that will only get worse if the cost keep going up and up.
SONY need to realize that shooting for the moon is more realistic then shooting for the sun and boring up next time around.
