Other -move's purpose is to aid Sony in the next generation. If they didn't bring out move, then next generation Sony's developers would be the only ones (except for a few third parties that dont make on the Wii, msost of which are pure PC devs) that have no idea how to make a motion controlled game. Additionally, if move hadn't released, then the forum dwellers who bought a PS3 would be very distressed when the PS4 gets announced, now, with move having released and having some good games coming out soon, Sony can release the PS4 with very minimal classic controller support without scaring their fans.
P.S. - this point of view also works if you replace Move with Kinect and Sony with MS, uh, and PS4 with 720
