Everyone's focus on Hardware is part of the issue here... Software is the biggest driver of earnings for 1st party.  They make more money and it insures the life of the hardware.

Nintendo has clearly won this cycle on Hardware, there is no doubt.. but has not won on software.  With the huge install base on hardware they are tracking down 20% on software this year and likely down another 20% next year.  At this point in the cycle for PS2 software tracked flat to down 5% for these two years.

Nintendo is in a position where they need to introduce new hardware to drive software and get back to growing earnings.

Exactly, if they introduce a redesign, along their usually planned software, they will have a fresh start, just like the PS3 slim and 360 slim.

That is what Nintendo needs. I just wonder if it is more profitable to Nintendo to keep selling the current Wii despite low sales for what the console managed to pull off, or if is is feasible to make a redesign.

@ Seece,

ok dude, whatever helps you sleep at night. Geez.  At least I back up my arguments, your opinion on this matter is laughable and despising the other's sources is just ridiculous.

By I'll post here for you, another source. Click here dude. I guess that one is "pathetic" either isn't it? The world is just against Microsoft because we have nothing better to do. Yep. X360 never fry itself. Never.

Dude, you are just laughable.  I like at how you're trying to be all sly, but it isn't working man.  I've read through this entire thread, and it's quite funny actually.

First of all, a Wii remodel probably wouldn't help Wii sales all that much.  A price cut would, but a simple remodel won't suffice with the core Wii audience.  Wii sales are in a decline and it's most likely never going to pass the PS2.  I would urge you to get over it.  You're obviously a Nintendo fan, so just be happy that you're in first place and that you have the DS which will pass the PS2.

Secondly, the 360 has a high failure rate, higher than Nintendo's.  We get it.  This argument is a bored attempt at downplaying the 360's success.  Claiming to be more credible by posting a source with a survey of 2000 people doesn't make the source true.  Thus the jokes about asking eight people in the office about Wii and such.

360's software sales speak for themselves.  If 10 million peoples Xbox's broke, then an even higher percentage of 360 owners are buying software, which is very good for MS, and very good for developers.  The 360 is successful, period.

I honestly don't know why I even bothered replying to this.  (shakes his head)
