I'd like to see The Source opinions on this, mostly on the SW forecast, which has been cut 30 million downwards for the Wii alone.
Also, Iwata's comments last night were NOTHING encouraging in regards to the Wii and its current situation. 3DS looks to be the definitive Nintendo console, I'm seriously doubting they will need a home console next gen. Much less if 3rd party relations with their home consoles keep on deteriorating at this rapid rate. Perhaps Nintendo should focus on 3DS and come up with a very advanced and revolutionary console in 2 gens time (enough time to come with a high quality, advanced and proved tech). Wii should die slowly from now on but I don't think they NEED to have a home console on the market after it dies.

Probably I'm wrong and they will release a new home console by early 2012.

leaving the console market is probably not the best stategy for nintendo.  i mean, even the game cube was a profitable business venture and so is the wii.  okay yeah, the amount of rev/profit is coming down but it still makes them money.  i'm sure their next console will as well.  i'm about as bitter as a guy can be against nintendo but i have to give one thing to them...they are good at business.

on another note: does anyone have nintendos shippng figures for last year?  useing vgchartz 2009 numbers (21.8M) with nintendo's shipping forcast (17.5M) that puts a projected decline of 19.77% YoY but those years don't quite line up (dec/dec vs march/march).  given that they have  been down around 20% YoY before the big jump from last years price cut and NSMB Wii that seems optmistic about this years holiday sales.
