Halo 3 was the game 360 owners waited for, i got my 360 when Bioshock came out which was 1 month before Halo 3. Of course i also got Halo 3 and many other games, it was pretty much the fall of 2007 which made me buy a 360.

Reach while good, it has a strong compeditor named COD which is a bigger franchise now than it was back then. Halo is big though and it will have legs, i still say that by the end of this generation Halo Reach will be the most sold game on the 360, even though it came it short of 1 million on COD MW2. The reason of course being that COD gets updated now, wheres Halo probably has at least 2 years before something new in the Halo franchise happens and its not even Bungie so we don't know how that will turn out.

I believe Bungie will return with a new Halo game for the next system in 2013/14. Halo 3 was supposed to be last Halo game ever in the franchise and the completion top the Halo trilogy. 3 years later Halo: Reach was launched. 2 years later Halo 3: ODST expansion of Halo 3 was launched.  Last game creates more hype and boosts sales exponentially especially in America, it is like a farewell tour of a big rock band who keep touring years and years after announcing their last ever tour.

Very unlikely I think.

One - my understanding is Bungie had a contract with MS where they had to deliver 2 more Halo titles after Halo 3.  They have now with Reach and ODST and I note they chose not to really expand on the core trilogy, nor even use MC as the main character, but simply provide expansion stories around the core narrative - while of course continuing to improve their stellar MP and modding capabilities.  I really get the feeling that creatively Bungie have already quit the Halo Universe and have little desire to return to it.  They left MC in perfect narrative suspension, heading for new adventures to be picked up by someone else.

Two - my understanding is that Bungie now have a 10 year deal with Activision and I'm sure Activision will want to see them deliver multi-platform titles with the hope of seeing MW2 level sales vs single console exclusives.

So no, I doubt Bungie will return as you hope.  Halo's fate lies elsewhere now I think, with MS and 343.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
