Well I'm not a fan of Zelda and I can see where you're coming from; however, if a remake of an old game is what the fans of the series want, given not all, then I say give it to them. Also, the remake will be in 3D, which I would think would add a freshness to the gameplay since the gamer will be more immersed in the game than ever before. Also, I think Nintendo is trying to have a great launch for the 3DS and having one more game, whether it be a remake or not, on the list of launch titles will definitely help.
Personally, I am looking forward to Mario Kart 3DS! I have loved the series ever since it began!
P.S. Also, with at least one Zelda title available, I would think for the most part, it would satisfy the masses which will give Nintendo ample time to make a new Zelda game for the 3DS in the future.
