How about compare how well Fable III is doing compared to Fable II. That'll be much more sensible and relevant.

 

There is no Fable II data so do the math. He's comparing it to highest selling WRPG we have data for.

Fine that's my bad on my part as I did not know VGC didn't have the pre order data for much older games.

But it still isn't a reasonable comparison to make. Why compare an established RPG Series that is well known and has sold well, to a brand new IP which didn't have much marketing nor create big buzz? If it was the other way around where DAO had amazing pre orders and Fable III right now wasn't matching it, then it would be reasonable because it's a New IP that did well when compared to an existing series of the same genre. And of course I wouldn't complain either if he was comparing two established series. Nothing wrong with that ie COD BO vs Reach vs MW2. But comparing to a New IP is not fair.
