| Xiru said: You guys are forgetting one thing. Sony hates to lose. They made the PS1 to spite Nintendo for backstabbing them with the SNES CD. We've never seen Sony put in a position where they simply must try to be the best because they've been the best the past 2 generations. This could be really dangerous for MS and Nintendo. You've already seen how aggressive they've become with the price point. They've cut the price so much already and i'm sure they are looking for a way to cut it again. The fact is, the huge games for 360 have been launched already. PS3 still has many to go. In fact, DMC4 and Burnout Paradise are looking better on PS3 according to 1up. If this continues, the 360 will be flying to the back of the line sooner than expected. I know everyone hates to hear "wait and see" because we've been waiting for a year for good games, but they are coming. PS3 is winning in worldwide numbers and it will only take 2-3 years of that to pass the 360 if it can do a little better in the US. This is a fun time to be a gamer, lots of competition. |
I would agree with you except for one factor... MS has a lot more cash and ability to lose money on this venture than Sony. Sony used to make money on their games division, but is losing money right now due to the bath it's taking on the PS3. MS spent hundreds of millions on a browser they never intended to sell just to keep it from becoming a competing software platform. They never made money on their games division until recently (billions spent but they haven't blinked yet). Sounds like Sony is going to have a hard road if they try to outlast MS by bleeding red for long.
So who will blink first in this game of chicken?
