Is it the cinematic character-centered part that you object to, or the execution of that design and the new direction he took Samus that is objectionable? |
Both, really. Understand that when we heard they would be exploring "themes of maternity" I thought it would be somehting like "Samus lets a baby Metroid live and defends it against threats after it imprints on her" - and that this would happen without any talking to explain it. The baby Metroid isn't even hurt, it just follows you around while you kill shit. I don't know. Something like that - something that could be carried on in silence, where the meaning is yours to interpret. Maybe in the end, Samus would have had to kill the hatchling. Maybe she would have turned it over to science again, to set up Metroid Fusion. I don't know. SOmething. Anything. I didn't expect what we got.
I guess I could have two signs
"I don't agree with a cinematic character-centric direction for Metroid!" and also
"SAKAMOTO'S WRITING SUCKS"
