I think Lostplanet22's advice is probably the best. I have 'bouts of depression due to things feeling monotonous and feeling like your life basically has no direction. Then I get into it deeper and start thinking about the relevance of my life and go all philosophical.

Not sure if this is your problem but maybe make a list of objectives (anything really from those easy to acheive to the downright ridiculous) of things you want to do, then set about doing them.
