Last year I made a thread with predictions about which of the 3 home consoles top 5 seling games would sell the most. I thought it was an interesting thread, and it had a good response so I decided to make one again for this year's holiday sales.
For this thread I'm defining a holiday title as a game that releases during October-December. If a game released outside that time frame in some regions then the sales in that region won't be included (example: Wii Party's Japan sales will not be counted).
So again the point is to predict the top 5 selling games for each console that will release during the time frame and decide which console's top 5 will have sold the most by the end of the year.
Last year the Wii ended up winning despite getting off to a slow start, thanks mainly to New Super Mario Bros. Wii. This year October should be a stronger month for the console with Wii Party releasing in the West, Just Dance 2, and Kirby in Americas/Japan. Two other games that have a strong chance at getting into the Wii's top 5 are Donkey Kong Country Returns, and Disney Epic Mickey which won't be releasing until near the end of November which may limit their sales this year somewhat.
For the 360, like last year the console is at a bit of a disadvantage by having their biggest exclusive (Reach) releasing in September and therefore not counting in this contest. Still multiplatform titles; Call of Duty Black Ops, Medal of Honor, and Fallout amongst others look like they will do very well. Fable 3 should also do well, and Kinnect Adventures may be a bit of a wildcard.
The PS3 has Sony's biggest exclusive title finally releasing for the platform which should give them a boost. Although the PS3s bundled motion controller game (Sports Champions) will not be included in the West because of the September release date. Americas centric multiplatform titles like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor will perform well on PS3 but likely not as strongly as on 360. The two big soccer games Fifa, and Pro Evo however will likely perform stronger on PS3 than 360, with both titles making it into the PS3 top 5 last year.
Poll Results: (Poll taken down 10/16)

DISCLAIMER: there were a number of people in last year's thread that did not like the deadlines or rules that I placed on this "contest". I'm not suggesting that the top 5 holiday sellers have any sort of importance to the console manufacturers or game developers. I just make these threads because I think it is a fun sales trend to look at, and just another thing to follow for us sales enthusiasts during the most interesting period of the year. So if the rules or restrictions placed here upset you, I'm sorry but I don't plan on changing the rules. If it really bothers you it might just be best not to keep up with this thread, although you are of course welcome to make your own thread using your desired restrictions (This is not aimed at any individual just in general and as preemptive against getting some comments like I did last year).
