I suspect this probably wasn't (entirely) her decision ... In the past I have known of several executives who have (effectively) been told that they aren't a good fit for the company, and they should seek out another opportunity. The reason they tend not to fire them, or lay them off, is because they don't want to create a negative news story against the company.
