Ioi,
Fair enough. You do have 2 PM of mine, but they are much older than November, from the 16th and 18th of June to be precise. Your reply shows you are not the arrogant guy I feared.
About the site, I see two lines of business:
1. The site as it is, a site for people like myself that like videogames and numbers from which you have to live on traffic: The important thing that many pointed out in one form or another is to keep this site DATA centric. Everything data centric will fit. Metacritic model is the way to go for the reviews. A game database ala IMDB too. A forecasting game like HSX too. Network? bah... I don't like how networking is getting everywhere as if it were the holy grail of websites. If done carefully and in a second level, fine. But I'd never try to convert VGChartz into another "me too" network centric site. As I said i think your intuition is quite on track for it.
2. The data collection and PROJECTION: You and a few very involved guys in this site are learning to be quite good crunching numbers and related data, and differently from professional data crunchers all of you like the gaming industry which is an advantage when it comes to "smelling" what's to come (fanboyism aside, of course). I worked as a Territory Manager for Gartner/Dataquest, and from what I know from inside the biggest service in statistics and projections of the IT industry, you guys are nearer to good, "sellable" data than you believe (and I know you believe it a lot already). And a few companies are very willing to pay for that data. Specially for projections. There it is the opportunity. You can break the business model NPD is abusing. Somehow you already started doing it... That's what I like best of this site. If you are interested in how this idea could be implemented I can go into further detail in a PM. I promise I'll answer
cheers,
