Dragon Age Origins was an extremely disappointing effort from Bioware after the legendary KOTOR and Mass effect games which are some of the best ever.

And from what I hear of Dragon Age 2 and after reading this preview I'm glad that they have realized this and are now going in a direction where hopefully we can take the name of Dragon Age in the same sentence as KOTOR and Mass Effect.

I hope our console version is as good this time because playing the console version of Dragon Age has surely hampered my enjoyment of it after I saw a few PC vids of the game.

However Bioware need to make KOTOR 3 ASAP. (not obisidian plz)

What was disappointing about Dragon Age?

Oh many many things.

I started off really liking because I was so hyped for it, I mean after Oblivion it seemed like it was gonna be my fav WRPG of the gen. But then when I got mid way through the game I realized the story was extremely cliched, I didn't like a single character except maybe Morrigan and the battle system was just boring.

And it wasn't really an open world game either like Oblivion, so its hard to excuse a boring battle system and a meh story (while in Oblivion I could somewhat excuse the story due to the open world nature of the game).

The story seemed like a mish mash of 10 cheap fantasy novels, Alistair should be hanged and the gameplay was boring. See I haven't even said anything about the graphics yet, there's no need to because they weren't as bad as everyone said and I am fine with playing DS RPG's so didn't care that much.

On the other in ME1/ME2, the story was so EPIC and I cared about those Characters, I mean you have characters like Mordin Solus in the ME series, what do you have in Dragon Age? That big troll thing who isn't really fun to talk to anyway?

When I play a Bioware RPG I expect not only one of the best WRPG's of the gen but one of the best RPG's of the generation, thats what I got with KOTOR back in the day, thats what I got with ME1 and ME2. But Dragon Age was shockingly mediocre compared to the studio's past efforts, hence disappointing. Not a bad game, just not worthy of Bioware though.

Oblivion remains my WRPG of the gen, and with Elder Scrolls V possibly coming out next year Bioware better improve this by a lot!
