Oh my god.. Will someone please pull up the numbers of Wii post-price cut and post NSMB Wii? I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm too lazy to pull this stuff up myself, but I guarentee you guys that Wii sales did not rise much immediately following the price cut. Only AFTER NSMB Wii did sales significantly go up. It's not like this stuff is debatable, it's on record.

The game was so popular that it led to mass shortages of a console that was already 3 years old and a record setting 4.3 million sold in December, following a steep Wii decline just prior. I guarentee you a $50 price cut did little to cause this, dude.

Of course DKC will move hardware, this is common knowledge. The real question is how much. It will certainly be Wii's most significant title of the year in terms of pushing consoles, but obviously won't make the impact that NSMB did, but then again nothing will. I find it funny that you actually think this game will not move hardware. Either you do not know much about your gaming history, or are in great denial.

Again peole, SOFTWARE is what moves hardware. Price cuts may do a little short term, but what lifts console sales and keeps momentum is the SOFTWARE.

You asked for it you got it.

Week before price cut: 148,626
Week of price cut: 333,425

September 2009 Avg week: 159,000
October 2009 Avg week: 371,000

September 2008 Avg week: 293,000
October 2008 Avg week: 376,000

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
