I think the main problem is, there's no reason for Capcom to outsource to begin with. This whole "westernise" approach they're taking is ridiculous, because DMC4 did great with both critics and in sales. People say the series needs to be "refreshed"... I don't particularly agree, but I can see where you're coming from. Changing everything, though? That's not refreshing a series, that's potentially killing it. Sure, it can pan out great, like with RE4 (though they didn't wreak havoc on character designs), but this will more than likely not be a case of RE4.

The design, the music, the enviroment... Everything just feels terrible to me, and I loved the previous games (well, except 2). Dante IS Devil May Cry. And what we're getting in this new game isn't Dante, not by a long shot. That might have been tolerable if any other semblence of Devil May Cry's soul was still present, but judging by the trailer we've gotten? It's not.

As for people saying it's giving us insight into Dante's backstory, we already have enough insight into it. Let me put the cards on the table, here. Devil May Cry has a story, but it's not deep and nobody plays it for the story. It's just a means to an end. It's not necessarily bad, and it does its job fine, but it is not the focal point of the game, nor should it be. We know enough about Dante to love him. Trying to create more shit for us to "care" about will likely just push us away.

And, to finish it all, like a previous poster said, I hardly have faith that Ninja Theory can pull off a DMC-game to begin with, even if all the previous points are ignored. Nothing against the guys, but they aren't on par with an internal Capcom team, and certainly not on par with Hideki Kamiya (though he was only involved with the first DMC).
