I'll second that chart, but it really does depend on what he plans to play with it.

I mean, I just bought a 4670 for $110 (these things are expensive and outdated in the UK) and it plays Starcraft II on Ultra settings at my res. Obviously if I could afford/justify a 5770 I would have.

Wow that's crazy expensive. I bought a used 4890 for $150 in May with a transferable warranty (was the fastest card that would fit/work in my hackintosh at the time) and thought that was a little expensive considering I was buying a 4xxx card when 5xxx cars were already out. I will stop complaining.
