Don't forget that Motorstorm (and to a lesser extent Resistance) was bundled with the PS3 and its high sales are not representative of the demand for the game from the PS3's userbase. Metal Gear Solid 4 will sell well 'For a PS3 game' which means it will probably sell dramatically less than the Metal Gear Solid games on the PS2 (but we won't know by how much until after it is released).

Same would apply to Gears of War I geuss. That came bundled aswell, so I definitely still see it as a succes. It would make it really strange if some one would dismiss the succes of Motorstorm or Resistance since it were/is bundled. People who bought those bundles probably found a reason to do so. And I would imagine the game would play a major factor too.

I think personally MGS4 will go beyond what I 'see' to be your current expectations. One thing will be the MGS fanbase and the other should be the advertisement. It would be great to see Sony advertise MGS4 during/before the release of the game. Selling 'dramatically less' especially since its MGS4 we're talking about here doesnt seem like a reality.

If by 'dramatically less', means to the same extent as from 'MGS2 to MGS3 sales figures', then it will definitely be a succes.
