Fox News is less biased than videogame media, whats happening now doesn't really change the equation at all. If anything, its simply promotional journalism because thats how its being sold in the PR war between Sony and MS this christmas.
NOW, if the 3DS is really launched this Christmas, well now theres a fight Nintendo are willing to get involved with, and id bet Sony wouldn't be ready to handle it.
Don't worry about it. By Christmas time kids will still want the Wii more, parents will still buy the cheaper option and pretty much nobody (i mean the mainstream audience) will give two shits about whether its in HD, whether its more accurate or whether Resident Evil 5 and Heavy Rain work with it.
Pachter is wrong
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
