I would like to know. What I do know is that the PS3 must be losing money by the freighter load if Sony is still posting those kinds of losses while the PS2 is definitely turning a profit and while the PSP seems to be doing rather well for itself.

 Yes. The loss that they're showing must be offset to some extent by profits from the PS2 and PSP. Because of that the actual loss from the PS3 itself would reasonably be inferred to be more than the operating loss that they posted. Getting a firm grip on the numbers and a better picture of the overall economics of the situation would be fascinating.
