I wouldn't doubt an announcement next year, if not a hint or something. They'd be stupid not to put MHP4 on the 3DS.

The question is when and on what console MH4 is released on.

Maybe they just drop the "P" and make MH4 for 3DS?  Why have two series?

Because there's no harm in having both when both sell a lot and people like consoles (especially in the West) over handhelds in cases.

Then why not just make the same game multiplatform, they have that MT Framework engine all ready to go?  MH4 for 3DS/PS3/360/Wii?  3DS/Wii cross-play?

Because I don't believe they should degrade and milk the MH series that much when it's doing fine as is.

I dunno, one game/series across three-four platforms doesn't seem more like milking/degrading than doing three games/series in parallel on four platforms (which is what we have now, MH3 Wii, MHP3 PSP, MHF PC/360).

The only main platforms are PSP and Wii. MHF is just a port, whatever. 1 handheld and 1 console is much better than everything. That would be just ridiculous and I can't help but think the quality of the games would be on varying levels. Doesn't sound like a good idea and they should keep the games on 2 platforms. Main ones on cosnoles, then the MHP ones on the handhelds obviously.

Well, the lowest common denominator would likely be Wii, but Basara 3 turned out pretty well and Wii was the base there.  Even going just 3DS/Wii I could see, if they wanted to continue the MMO route for HD/PC.  What I don't really see much point for is continuing the Portable sub-series after MHP3.

Why not? Console MH is for people who like consoles more (especially the West. And when it comes to online gaming, consoles are king. MH3 has a pretty big community) and MHP is better for Japan and also like an expansion. I don't see much reason to drop the console ones, not like MH3 hasn't sold a lot.

I think you misunderstood me, I'm saying with 3DS there no longer a need for a different altered release, like MHP3.  Just put MH3G on both Wii and 3DS, simultaneously.  Hell, they could even allow crossplatform play, and data sharing (play on Wii at home, transfer your data to 3DS and play the same game on the go).
