This is why I laugh when people say the next gen consoles won't be much different to the current ones in terms of power. People have always said that the next leap won't be as big as the last one etc etc but they always turn out wrong. You watch, the next gen consoles will be beastly once again and people will be wowed.

What I hope happens is that Sony/Microsoft go for small leaps and Nintendo go for beastly hardware, I can just imagine the roll reversals now lol. Probably won't happen tho...

The Wii itself was a big leap in another way, power and engines are just one side of the coin, the issue with "huge" leaps in power is the rising development costs for publishers, developers, and even shown with the PS3 it hurts console makers as well.  Every gen there is a leap, but some overstep their bounds by doing it too soon cause of technology limits, which would be the case for many developers this gen and has killed some consoles/console makers in the past, 3DO, Dreamcast, Saturn, etc.

hey I just want nintendo to have the most powerful console next gen so all the sony fans can go back to touting gameplay and the ninty fans can tout graphics I know it's probably not gonna happen but it would be funny. 

Eh last gen was a lot of the same as well, hell not sure if you were here for some of the debates but a lot of people still believed the PS2 was more powerful than the Gamecube, sure it wasn't true, but all sides embellish to prove their "side", purchase, or what have you as "right" it's just really lame I mean look at the PS3 and 360 fans fight over particle effects and little details, have you seen such pointless debates?
