It does look closer to a portable Wii than a portable Gamecube.
And it really does show that Sony and Microsoft jumped the gun, as Nintendo is getting tech more like theirs, but will make money off it (as the next home system is likely to have specs like the HD systems), while the 3DS clearly outclasses the PSP by leaps (perhaps not by bounds as well), and has a screen with only slightly less resolution, and in 3D, in addition to the second touch screen.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
