you know, this is the first coment to realy surprise me not many americans mention him. that is such an amazing movie and tarkovsky is such an amazing director. I like solaris a bit more though, but it is indeed amazing

why are you surprised, i'm not American

i love all his movies, including Solaris, but Stalker is my absolute favorite. Both my Name and Avatar are inspired by Stalker.  There is only one other Movie that comes close to it's Atmosphere and that is "The Element of Crime" by Lars von Trier.
