I expect a number of about 250k for Reach's first week. Not a mega huge increase but a bit of a spike none the less.
However as indicated above when GT5 releases sales of all consoles naturally increase towards the holidays to the point it will be hard to tell how much of a bump happened.
Personally i still think the 360 will outsell the PS3 worldwide for the week of GT5's launch. Reason for me thinking that is whatever happens 360 is going to be up year over year on it's 7th november 2009 sales. Which was 311k. There is no way we are going to see the yoy increase drop to nothing in just a couple of months. The console is still getting 180k a week a few months after the re-model, and that is the supposed quiet period.
However the PS3 sold 316k for the same week the previous year. Logically you have to think it will be down year over year. Those numbers came off the back of a price cut and a re-model. It is already down yoy in some regions i.e europe. The question is will GT5 give the PS3 a potential 100k-200k boost in hardware to put it beyond that 316k figure to be up year over year?
So i think GT5 will shift more consoles then Halo Reach does initially but the numbers will get lost in the natural increased sales towards the holidays. But i don't think it will give it a boost to get it above the 360 for that week. Thus won't really get seen as a boost at all.

you believe 360 will outsell it that week? it did 311k last year b/c it had GTA LCS, Forza and Dragon age what its going to have this Oct?
i believe PS3 will sell upwards of 400k WW that week you think the 360 can beat that?

Kinnect, Black ops, Bundles, hoilday, ect.
GT5 is also launching agianst COD which will overshadow it in America and maybe the EMAA.
Also M$ will cut the price on the xbox 360 during that time . I remeber the week of GOW3 the xbox price got cut in half. I lol'd so hard becaucse that cost ps3 some sales during that time.
GT5 will move more HW than Reach for sure, but not by much. I dont think it will sell 400k more ps3's. IF Reach can sell 400k xbox's next week than I know GT5 will. If Reach dosnt than I dont think so.

i dont think kinect will release WW for Gt5 week if so its not really in a position to be part of the argument b/c Move launches earlier, and Move launches justa couple days before GT5 in Japan
as for BO ill let the preorder charts do the talking PS3s PO are massively up from MW2 while 360s are pretty flat with MW2 so its not like BO will only help 360
as for that price cut yeah i keep hearing bout that ever since slim came out but do you really think MS will cut there prices when they been winning NPDs and alot of WW weeks here on VGC? and no MS cut there 360s price many weeks before gow3 release

lots of people ( families ) will look at ps3 see GT5 and than they will look at xbox 360 and see Dance central for the kinnect, they will go for the 360 since familes like casual stuff, lowering GT5 ps3 HW boost. Also If MS can afford to sell kinnect with a game for 150 they can afford to take that game out and sell the thing for 100, which can futher suffer GT5 HW boost if they drop the price around GT 5 time.
As for BO that was my point it will move 360 HW, most people (america) are going to see BO ads more than GT and they will purchase an xbox since ads for COD usually end with the xbox logo. BO will overshadow and dimish GT5 hype in america causing hw sales in america to lower.
No the price cut I was talking about was only for the week GOW3 was reasled in. They drop the price off the arcade too 130 bucks and Elite to 200. They will do the same around GT5. MS marketing poeple are not morons. They been doing a better job selling and spacing out their games than Sony guys. Sony is launcing move next week! Halo Reach is coming next week. Can you honeslty tell me sony is being intellegent?
Also No company wants to lost ground during the most busy time of they year, so unless MS gets to cocky agian they will drop the price.
