Yeah water battles added a new dimension to the series, it was very fun, i wonder if they can add Sky battles in the future games, yeah i am not sure how.

Fighting Rathians in the air?  Epic shit my friend they could do it in a rather silly but in line with the series way by using balloons and have a air meter just like water battles, run out of air?  Fall from the sky!
