At present Final Fantasy VIII helds the best first week record with 2,504,044 units sold in 4 days, while Dragon Quest IX is the best selling third party game with 4,152,985 units sold.
Do you think Monster Hunter Portable 3rd will break these records?
I personally think that the best selling third party game is a lock, it will cross the 4 million milestone without breaking a sweet, the worst scenary I have is around 4,500,000 units.
Regarding the first week record it will depend on how much Capcom can ship though I see it very unlikely. It is important to know that the first week it will consist of 5 days, 3 more days than Pokémon or Dragon Quest games. I would say around 2,000,000 - 2,200,000 units is quite possible.
