Can the 360 hold off the PS3 in total sales for the entire generation? I hope the 360 can hold off the PS3 for as long as possible. Halo:Reach will help extend 360s lead over the PS3 for September and October, before Gran Turismo 5 launches at the start of the Xmas/holiday sales period.
PS3 strikes back with Gran Turismo 5 in November. The new Call of Duty should have a bigger impact on 360 sales than PS3 sales in November. Fifa will favour the PS3 sales but Madden will have a bigger impact on 360 sales. PS3 and 360 both have a good list of games for the last few months in 2010.
The XBox 360 should be able to finish 6 million total console sales ahead of the PS3 by the end of the year. 360s current lead over PS3 stands at 5.4 million. PS3 and 360 should sell equal console sales in 2010. The 360 is expected to offset the PS3 first half of 2010 hardware gains.
Console Price cuts are not expected for either 360 or PS3. Console bundling and added value is to be expected- games, extra accessories or Kinect or PS Move included. I do not expect PS Move or Kinect will have much of an impact of hardware sales. The Wii has the casual market locked up and a 4 year lead over both the PS3 and 360 in setting the benchmark for interactive motion gaming.
