Nintendo is one of the best and largest developers in the world because they constantly produce games with highly polished, unique and intuitive gameplay. For the most part the RPG genre is a genre based on story and high production values, and gameplay is fairly unimportant.
In other words, Nintendo has difficulty making an amazing RPG because the genre is at complete opposition to what Nintendo is about.
