I don't see the big deal. If this is what homebrew enthusiasts are after, cool have at it. It's their hardware. They're free to use it in whatever fashion they see fit. At the same time, it makes sense that Sony wants to take measures to prevent software piracy. They have been pretty strict so far which I don't hold against them, but the removal of features like Other OS in the name of piracy prevention is going too far.
Users on these forums cheerleading Sony locking down and reducing what people can do with their hardware do so because they are fanboys/girls, plain and simple.
