There's a difference between affecting which future lives live, and stopping any from ever living. Of course every action that we take potentially changes the future, unless of course there is no free will and everything's pre-ordained by our natures.
By saying no more children, you're denying all future life, not just changing smaller bits of it. Anyways, I said this all casually and in no way meant to get into some sort of philisophical debate. =P
