The GC certainly made a profit and I think sold reasonably well, just not amazing
The NPC ports though didn't sell that well, probably due to lack of advertising, NPC Pikmin 2 not being released in the US and limited brand recognition among Wii owners that didn't own a GC.
However, I expect Pikmin 3 to break 1.5 - 2m when it hits the Wii (hopefully) soon
