I think you're either overestimating how hardcore ST is, or you're simply conflating niche with hardcore. Simply because there is not a large audience for the game does not mean it would perform better on another system. If ST players can be considered hardcore it's only in the sense that they will buy the game no matter what system it is on because they enjoiy the series that much. It's certainly not hardcore in the sense that we refer to games like Halo and Resident Evil as hardcore.
