Yes the Virtual Console is a complete rip-off.

Compare to XBLA and PSN pricing.  Comparing to actual physical copies is a broken comparison.

PS1 classics on PSN are on average £4, some really big name games are £8, some others are as low as £3.  A lot of old games given a HD makeover/remake with extra features are priced £5-8.

XBLA has many games from older systems, they often get new features added, visual tweaks, achievements and are priced similar to PS1 classics or HD remakes.

Then you have the virtual console which is nothing but a rom dump in 99% of cases and NES games are £5 (some are more), SNES games are £8, N64 (same era as PS1) are all £10 minimum with a few costing even more than that.

If the PSN and XBLA can offer straight up rom dumps and even improved versions for those prices then the virtual console that does nothing but rom dumps is clearly overpriced.

You've got your figures wrong there. It's £7 for 1,000 points. N64 games are mostly 1,000 points, so... yeah. That makes NES games (500 points) £3.50 and SNES games (800 points) around £5.60.
