I have seen some people saying this, and I'm not doubting them, but I don't understand why a Plasma would be better than a LCD for the Wii. Aren't both technologies based in the same idea of fixed pixels? Is it because Plasmas generally have better upscaling algorithms?

By nature there should be no difference. The difference comes in that LCD's support smaller sizes and thus have more bargain basement types with poor algorithms and wider pixel pitches. Actually between my LCD and my friends Plasma my LCD produces a better picture... it comes down 90% to the TV's quality and the pannels quality, if you buy a cheap one expect a cheap product. The only major difference in them is LCD's don't handle color as well as Plasmas because of their nature they tend to lean to a blue shade but it's easy to correct in setup(though it'll never be 100% perfect) and Plasmas consume a lot more energy.
