MS have done well, quitting would be disastrous for relations with Japanese developers. The more units they sell, the more it helps them for the next generation. Its still selling at a decent rate and has a great attach ratio for software, if it sells enough, multiplat sales could rise along and they can position it as a poor mans PS3.
Most importantly, theyve improved their image, so again, next gen they can start fresh with a good batch of titles.
