| Legend11 said: How about you stop with the insults? You don't know me and I have a feeling you don't know any of the other posters either. I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 so that shows how accurate your facts are.[/quote] As for Miyamoto > Bungie that's your opinion and perhaps it's shared by other fans but it's not by me. I like Western games since I've played a lot of them for decades as well as Nintendo's consoles. I've played Nintendo's first party games since the NES (yes *gasp* I owned the NES, Nintendo 64, and Gamecube). I bought a Nintendo 64 for Goldeneye and played it to death, then tried Zelda: Ocarina of Time (I played The Legend of Zelda and enjoyed it) but I couldn't get into Ocarina of Time, in fact I played until about halfway through (forcing myself to no less by telling myself about all the good reviews it got) then gave up because I realized a game is meant to be fun and I wasn't having fun. I tried Mario 64 and got bored with it as well (and I remember playing Super Mario Bros. until I could wrap it) I just didn't care for it. Oddly enough I bought a Playstation and ended up playing Tomb Raider and couldn't put it down, I got more enjoyment out of it than all the first party Nintendo games I played at that time. Is Tomb Raider better than Nintendo's games? For me I had more fun and couldn't put it down so personally the answer is yes, for others I imagine some enjoyed Nintendo's games a lot more. It's all a matter of personal tastes. As for the claim that without Miyamoto there wouldn't be a console game industry how do you know that? After the collapse of the first generation of consoles I ended up playing a lot on the Commodore 64, it basically took over from where the consoles left off. The PC game industry wouldn't have changed a bit and I can't see any influence from Miyamoto on it, none. So what's to say another console manufacturer wouldn't have given it a go? I know Nintendo had problems with the NES at the beginning but that doesn't mean that eventually another company wouldn't have tried to (and possibly suceed as well). Oh and your "greatest games", that's your opinion not fact. I don't even like jrpgs (I prefer computer rpgs/western rpgs) as do some of my friends and I know they wouldn't agree with you on your Earthbound opinion. Same with Starfox, since I played flightsims on PC and flightsim shooters X-Wing, Wing Commander, etc, and enjoyed them a lot. Anyways don't insult people or think that your opinion speaks for everyone because it doesn't. ps. Some people on this site wonder where the Xbox fans went, well we put up with insults like this (calling us trolls or belittling us because we happen to enjoy a certain type of game over another) while people who do the same against Nintendo fans are banned. It's unacceptable and shouldn't be tolerated from anyone. |
1. Insults? You've been insulting more than I have so don't play innocent here kid.
2. My facts? Making the statement "most of you probably haven't been gaming since before the Playstation" was something I stated as a fact? It was an assumption and still most likely an valid one, not an "accurate fact". Good grief you'll twist the simplest of statements to try and make a jab.
3. Your love for Western games is your personal problem, not mine so please don't cry foul when your own bias is called on you. I hate Walt Disney but that doesn't keep me from acknowledging his early animated films as one of the intigral inspirations of early Anime and in its own way affecting all modern anime as we know it. Reality is not based on East vs West, its based on facts.
4. First generation consoles are Pong consoles and you claimed you haven't been gaming since Atari 2600 which is second generation, get your facts strait. The Commodore 64 did pick up where many consoles fell off but it failed for the same reason the second generation did, lack of quality control and no innovation. I suppose if you want to you could argue PC games would still be around today because of Solitare but seriously I doubt you'd see more than 16bits especially with the amount of ram taken to run games on most computers at the time. Without the console market to bait the PC market in what could be done there would be nothing pushing PC developers to make better games for the PC.
5. If you actually bothered to read my "greatest games" you would understand much better I was trying to say, next time don't skim through someone's response before haphazardly replying to it.
6. Yes, it is so terrible 360 fans are persecuted, its as if Nintendo fans have had to put up with yours and Sony's shit for the last seven years or something, crazy isn't it? And now that we're rising to the top you're still acting like yours is the biggest dick on the block and will always be that way. Who would have thought that anamosity might arise towards a group largely comprised of 13 year old boys who think saying "fuck" when their parents aren't around is the coolest thing in the world, whose tact in internet debating is best illustrated by their shit talking on Xbox live.
7. (In response to others). Metroid was Miyamoto's concept, Gunpei yoko just made and developed the game, it still counts as one of Miyamoto's children.
