Japan doesn't make that much off a difference....a console can still win with worldwide sales even if it doesn't have Japan.

Perhaps, but I'm not sure of a console that has ever won a gen without it. Depending on a couple of factors for next gen (how Japan's market is, the Xbox 3/720 position worldwide [excluding Japan]) you could be right. It just hasn't happened yet.

You also have to remember that places like the US and Europe are seeing incredible growth for videogames whilst it seems like Japan hasn't grown to horrible much.....This gen has already sold many more consoles then any other generation.

Edit: I haven't looked at the numbers to back up my statement but i'm fairly certain about this.
