Seems like something they could do on purpose to drum up talk about and sales of the game, via word of mouth. Seems like a coincidence it always happens about a month before release.
Good for Reach either way. The miniscule amount of sales it will lose, will be regained 10 fold by word of mouth from elitist braggers who say they are playing the "best game ever" weeks early.
