coming from someone who works in gaming retail the boost from Halo Reach is going to be huge. Regardless of what anyone else says I along with others who work at Gamestops across the country who I've talked to are seeing HUGE Halo Reach console pre-order numbers.
It won't move millions of units of hardware but it will move over 200,000 I can promise you.
