The rise in sales form the 360 slim have little if anything to do with Wii's decline. Wii's decline has everything to do with the weakness of its lineup this year (in terms of hardware movers). During the holidays Wii will have the first hardware movers since NSMB Wii, and will probably end up selling a good 3.5 - 4 million in US in December, then all this doom and gloom talk will be shown as pointless.

The fact is that for the entire 2010 thus far, people have had NO reason to buy a Wii, other than the older games like Wii Fit, Mario Kart, NSMB Wii, etc. But even mega hits like those cannot singlehandedly carry a console for years on end.
