You might be right in that people who didn't enjoy the first were put off from getting the second, but I think Ubisoft's failure to acknowledge the game's existence hurt just as much if not more. I was reading more than a few comments from fans of the first game who didn't even know the second was out weeks after its release. Of course, there's no real exact answer to why games sell/don't sell, so it's possible we're both right.
