I don't remember what was sales price on those titles but i just looked at steam and they are 10 euro for multivinia and darwinia so sale price was probably between 2,5 and 5 euros - that would be 50k pieces sold during sale. That's rather impresive for indie game.

The more interesting part of the story is that the company spent the best part of 2 years chasing the console dollar and nearly went under, only being rescued because of a sale on Steam. A salutary lesson to smaller PC devs everywhere.

I couldn't agree with that more. Still, the ariticle did suggest that there were many hoops to jump through for Steam. Further, we all know that many independant devs have done very, very well with XBL and PSN as well. I'm sure there are strong arguments for and against every platform.

The company has had many sales on Steam before the one mentioned in the article. What Valve probably requested in order to do another mid-week or weekend sale was to add achievements using their Steamworks sku which is free to developers.
